You should see the latest generation of Global’s. They make what I fly look quite dated.
The Classic and XRS Global’s have the Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics suite. I preferred the Collins Proline 4 suite on the Challenger 604.
I’d like to thank @Troll for sending me one of his custom made ejection seat handles. As you can see it works great!
Actually I was in the attic looking for the top of the wall to my study so I could run some CAT5 to my PC. I thought I had found the beam…I was incorrect.
Anyway, a trip in the ambulance, and a few hours in the ED later, here I am. A bunch of bruises and abrasions, a 6cm gash in my head (10 staples) and a slightly fractured C2…and here I thought flightsimming was safe! ![]()

Wait what?!
Holy s***!
Get well soon!
I’m glad to see your sense of humor is intact Will, but damn!.. I hope you recover quickly.
What @PaulRix said. That sucks.
Been there done that. In my case my legs went through and I racked myself on a joist. Not sure which case is worse, yours or mine.
When my contractor came over, he suggested that now since I’ve poked a hole, why not add ceiling stairs there. We did, which was forever a painful reminder.
Edit: since you did this in the line of duty, shouldn’t you qualify for a Purple Heart? Maybe @BeachAV8R can submit the necessary documentation.
Agreed on the edit! Trying to bring Ethernet in and defeat the scourge of WiFi is a noble cause we can all look up to.
I requested that I have his air ambulance take me to the hospital but it would have been from and to the same airport so… ![]()
What Happened:
I stepped and went through the ceiling. I caught myself on the joists under my arms…legs kind of kicking around looking for something to step on…there wasn’t …after about 30 seconds I decided to let go and try to land on my feet…I didn’t. Not sure if I hit my head on something in the attic or my flightsim desk…but boy do scalp wounds bleed. My wife said I looked like a TV crime scene with a puddle of blood next to my head.
In 2 weeks I’ll have another CAT scan to see if my fracture is healing. I’m going to have a lot of catching up to do on the Christmas Flight. ![]()
Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes. ![]()
I am speechless…!
Will, please stick to crashing virtual Viggens! It’s ok! I’ll look the other way!
The Mudspike forum wouldn’t be the same without you.
This isn’t some wierd Halloween prank, is it?
You actually fell through your ceiling…!? ![]()
High profitability..! Low overhead… ![]()
Wow! Extremely glad you are ok will. That looks like it could of been a lot worse.
I’d say keep your chin up but that just sounds harsh ![]()

Feel better buddy
Oh my! After seeing the first photo I was reminded of the scene in Christmas Vacation where Clark falls through the ceiling. However, after seeing the second picture I feel bad for finding potential humor in the situation. Get well soon!
This is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw that first picture.
LOL!
Nope, not a prank. I may be good at photoshop (I made @BeachAV8R’s tree disappear from the trail), but I’m not that good. ![]()
Thanks for the green light to crash Viggens! ![]()
I will never be able to shake the feeling that you did this on purpose… ![]()
Get well soon, and be careful!
You do have amazing character for going through this and cheerily joking about it with the braces around your neck!
Maybe crashing Viggens in VR will give your body a sense of urgency and speed up the recovery.
