Where You Are Photos (2019)

For some reason, this springs to mind…

I don’t think that Mr. McQueen made it out of Stag Luft III either.

Work has kept me away but I finally got pics developed from my travels with my dad. A couple of gems with about 60 “meh” photos. I should just get a DSLR.

Nikko and the Toshogu Shrine, where Tokugawa Ieyasu is interred.

Kanazawa again.

I’ve always found that “Down with the socialist, communist, capitalist pigs!” is a good catch-all slogan to chant…it covers all the bases…although it doesn’t rhyme as well when you translate it out of the original Hittite.

Holy carp… This bothers me more than I like to admit.

So many questions about this…

  1. Why the length. Surely this would affect carrier operations aboard the USS Kuznetsov
  2. Why the bend. Why is this curved. I can only assume something to do with the curvature of the earth.
  3. Would you actually be able to rotate the aircraft or flare on landing?

Plus who would charge €10.00 for this. The monster.

Mine would reverse into the passenger football in my lorry and defend it like the Alamo when it was time to go home for the day. ‘No dad. We do not leave the lorry’

I picked this up today.

It could have slipped through my fingers, but my vigilance ensured that I got it after all.

I got a note earlier that it had shipped, but I didn’t hear anything since. I checked the tracking number last night and it turns out, that it has been at the pickup point since Friday.

If I hadn’t checked it would have been returned.

No SMS’ses, notes or anything.
Them PlagueNord bastards!
(PostNord roughly something like “Mail Nordic”, the Danish/Swedish mailservice, more commenly known as PestNord (PlagueNord) because the service level have been plummeting and the price skyrocketing.)

Now I can do proper Mudspiking.

Happy Simming

Brize Norton overhead this morning.

Beautiful day for a bit of plane spotting before work. Atlas. Globemaster and voyager all sat looking pretty for me!

My only experience with actual plane spotting was in June 1994, aboard the USS GUAM (LPH-9) when we pulled into Southhampton.

We were opened out hangar bay and most of the flight deck to the public. We had examples of most of our aircraft (CH-53E, CH-46, UH-1, AH-1) spotted so you could walk all around them…I think we may have had a CH-46 opened so you could walk inside.

That said, we had pulled back a number of the aircraft onto the stern of the flight deck and put up a line across the area–didn’t want folks clambering around and over aircraft where we couldn’t monitor them–safety reasons. A single Marine (on a rotating basis) was stationed as a “guard” to keep folks from entering into the area. We quickly found that he needed to have memorized all the Bureau Numbers (BUNOS) of all the aircraft behind the line.

These Marines would want until 5-10 plane spotters gathers around him–pencils and pads read–and then would recite "The CH-46’s behind me have the following BONOS…, from right to left, the three CH-53s behind me have BUNOS…, " etc.

The plane spotters were quite satisfied. :slightly_smiling_face:

…so for @Victork2’s plane spotting…are you thinking about making a couple of low passes to get BUNOS (or the RAF equivalents) ? :hushed:
