I saw one of those up close. The hubs on the drive axle are spectacular (if you are an oddity like myself) shame Thorneycroft died out as they always looked better than the scammell that replaced them

Yeah, it did pretty good in the mountains, good power and a quick shifting gearbox. I think the heaviest we got up to on our tour, were around 48T total, and that didn’t pose a problem at all, even when going up a pretty steep incline.
We would have liked it to be a bit shorter though, as it was a bit of a pain to maneuver in the narrow city streets and switchbacks, we often had to go through.

With the length of that chassis and the “eventual owner” i would guess that it was originally planned to be a cement mixer or possibly a tipper, the order was cancelled and the chassis cab was modified for heavy haulage and sold cheap. A common thing for manufacturers to do. I had a very long 144 Scania that was the same setup.

Yep, spot on! I think it was some kind of fleet deal for the UN. And it likely made maintenance a lot simpler too.
There were a bunch of different configurations, hookloaders (I think it’s called?) for 20ft containers, a few with just a multi purpose bed on, and one with a hookloaded flatbed and winch, for light vehicle recovery.

So… Roads are almost all completely clean of snow, while the countryside it’s still draped by a white blanket.
I must say, it looks magical and beautiful.
We signed the contract for our real home.
Delivered some paperwork to my employer.
Slowly all falls in place.
I’m happy, everyone.

I’ve been having the same issue! Haven’t been outside to take photo’s for a month until this week. Finally got to try out my Peakdesign Clip(it’s fantastic) too. Now to buy that Sigma Art 20-70 lens

Took today and tomorrow off to go skiing. Tomorrow is going to be pristine yet very cold (around -18 at 2000m). Today was a little warmer but brutal winds, had to wear two jackets and two sets of gloves on ascent (usually i barely ever need the second set on descent). We had to abort about 2/3 of the way up due to one of the crampons of a friend breaking. Lots of icy patches in the snow where the skins don’t grip enough made it unsafe to ascend further with a broken crampon, plus we were starting to show some early signs of frostbite onset so it was time to abort anyway. Didn’t take any shots higher up because taking my gloves off would have been a bad idea.
