X-Plane 11 - News and Releases Thread 2021

looking forward to your next leg in that A340 on the XMas track… depends how hard it is to learn oc, for me it would mean next XMas track the soonest :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Looks fairly easy, its an airbus. If you can fly an airbus of any flavor you are good.

Very nice lighting work progress for XP-12

Looks good. I’m a definite buy for XP12. I’m just addicted (afflicted?) that way.

for now I am sticking with XP for the helos and few planes which are not going to be in MSFS that quickly, but what will happen once Asobo introduce helos into MSFS? hopefully it wont be the death sentence for XP in my case like @boomerang10 mentioned it would be for him with the release of PMDG 737

like flight modeling is superior in XP but does it make sense for GA aircraft? why there is no 11.50+ update for e.g. X15, Blackbird ? why there aro no other ‘xplanes’ ? that would make sense to me little bit.
because I cant really tell the difference between XP Carenado Seneca and MSFS Carenado Seneca. or XP PMDG DC6 and MSFS PMDG DC6. do you guys feels like it is that different in regards to the FM feel?

but looking forward to XP12, hopefully it wont be just ultimate IFR civi sim

I am less worried about XP than I was 6 months ago. A smaller MSFX would have likely killed XP. But MSFX has been way more successful than I figured would be possible. At that scale, even if just the tiniest fraction of MSFS players try XP12, the scale of new users will be enough to replace the former XP customers who’ve permanently left. And I don’t believe that the table-based engine in MSFX will ever match the realism of XP. Learning helos has only added to the huge appreciation for what XP offers. I imagine that I will someday be in the “both” category. I will use XP to augment my real-world flying. I will use MSFS for multi-player/Fly-in/FS-Economy-type stuff. For now I don’t really feel the need to try the other sim. It is clearly stunning.

MSFS feels quite alive in the wind, with turbulence coming up off mountains etc, and doesn’t use that old FSX model. I think that was just Austin worrying about his beach house that started that rumour..

The Airbus in the XP12 screenshot showed the default XP11 FMS, so hopefully it gets Zibo’d heavily.

I know people poop on him all the time…but I like Austin’s enthusiasm. I know he has been wrong in the past…and sometimes makes outlandish statements…but the guy genuinely loves making his product better each iteration.

He’s one of us. In fact he is the ULTIMATE one of us. Austin is the uber-SimFanatic. Producers like Matt Wagner and Jason Williams are great people guiding and promoting the development of great products. Austin is all that PLUS the original developer. XP is his baby. Whatever ultimately happens to X-Plane there is not a single individual on this planet whom any of us can actually name who has done more for this hobby.

Hadn’t thought of it that way but I get it. Heck, if I had the talent, and drive, I’d have done the same thing. I would’ve just added the “boom, boom” to it.

I’m assuming he’s anti-combat sim (which is fine) but, man, that would be a great platform; Earth is modeled (just have to d/l & convert [insert your fav location here]); flight models excellent; systems modeling is there.

As of a few months ago I still preferred the feel of XP vs FS2020. It’s just that at the end of my leg all I get to do is land. Something I can do in DCS with just as much of a challenge, yet there’s a pile of broken things left behind me if I did my “job” right (or my own wrecked, virtual, self if I didn’t).

Hmmm, now that I’ve said that out loud…

IDK if you know, but, x-plane since long long time supports weapons by core without any plugin or patchworks.
Many military fighters on xp11 (contrary with that vicious bait to get new kids with a flood of military fighters on msfs) have weapons working.
AAM, iron bombing, guide bombing, AGM, cannons, … all modeled.
For exampke if you want the best Tornado for PC you have XTrident Tornado that even includes laser guided bombs working nicelly.
What lacks in xp is a possibility to easy create complex military missions because requires assets and hard script working, anyway exist a free plugin could help in the last part (x-mission).

He’s one of a kind for sure. When others were pulling out of the sector due to ‘there’s no money in it’ he pushed on because he loves it as a hobbyist. While that can hold things back a bit sometimes, without people like that I doubt there would be any major sims around.

I didn’t know that. Interesting. I was thinking dreaming DCS World - like, where we actually have the entire world.

I know nothing about what aircraft can actually employ them in XP11 but the “X-Plane 11/Weapons” folder has some goodies in there.

yeah, and many fighters have custom goodies

Check, the colimata MiG-29, xtrident Tornado and the deltawing F16.
All with missiles and bombs

iniBuilds continuing to push the (already high) bar even higher.

I’ve mostly migrated away from XP11 but I’m excited to see they’re still pushing out upgrades and can’t wait for the MSFS products.

If the TBM was any indication of Hot Start’s quality, this should be fantastic.

Some of you remember “Fighter Ops”. It promised to be the ultimate combat flight sim that took the player from primary flight training through to a campaign. The underlying sim was to be X-Plane. It never made it past the pretty website stage.

I do. And I recall the short video, such as it was. Man, wasn’t that like 20 years ago?
