You are NOT helping Chris. So far I have avoided the temptation to pick up the B350, but shots like that make it very hard to resist!
Oh…as a former King Air driver it really is a must purchase for you. It is very, very nice.
You two and your shoe shopping
Well, now I can see what all the fuss was about. She’s very impressive and in a different league from Carenado’s B200 which is a bit like cheap wine in a fancy bottle…
Looking good! Did you find the time to check out the 1.01 patch? Also, from what plugin are those clouds?
I still need to play with the new version, but I have downloaded it. It is going to be quite some time before the product is close to being finished. My problem is that I keep buying new aircraft. I still need to get to grips with the TBM900 and I now have the DCS FW190 A8 and Airfoil Labs B350 to play around with.
The clouds in that shot are from Ultra Weather XP. I have switched back to XEnviro for the moment though, as the new 1.10 version seems to have put the product back on track. One of these days I will just find a setup I like and stop fiddling around with it!
Yeah - they seem to have done some research on it for sure. Not all is perfect, but little touches like the lights dimming when the starter is engaged is pretty nifty. And I love the EFIS-85…it is a nice break from the G1000 and other modern cockpits. And I love that they have pop-up autopilot panels.
Do the clouds still spin on the spot when the view is rotated? That was my one deal breaker for XEnviro - I found it far too distracting.
The clouds are now 3D and I haven’t noticed any rotation. I can’t say I have looked for it though.
Hmmmm … Maybe I’ll look at it again. Maybe I’ll make it an early birthday present for myself.
Before you shell out $70, let me fire it up and specifically look for any rotation. Like I said, I haven’t seen any, but I haven’t looked for it either.
I just flew two legs with plenty of cloud, and there was no rotation of the clouds. In fact it all looked pretty good.
Is XEnviro usable in VR? I would think it was, but wanted to check.
I didn’t get good results in VR. There was some flickering with the clouds. I’ll test it more extensively. What I am getting though, is much better frame rates when close to, or in clouds. With Ultra Weather clouds I was grinding down to single figure frame rates at times. With XEnviro I am seeing minimal frame rate drop, if any.
