I picked up the new Carenado F50. Pretty nice from what I have seen so far. I’m sure the systems depth isn’t all that great, but that is kind of expected.
Hmm, where did you score that Carbon Cub Beach?
Hey!
I used to fly that ol’ Fokker for SAS…
Ooooh…a cargo version…maybe I do need this for the Xmas trip…hmmmm
So the screen shots are via the regular monitor (not VR). Do you know if there is a was to see the 2D panels ind VR that the A->, C->, and O-> click spots open? I’ve got the D0-228 and would really like to use those functions. As usual, Carenado manuals have a bit to be desired.
Curious as to your thoughts on this one Chris, especially in comparison to the other Cubs out there if you have any of them? Q8Pilot seemed to like the preview copy he tried out.
I’m pretty sure there isn’t a way to get the 2D panels up in VR. I pretty much fly my hands on aircraft (bush planes, helicopters, fighters, experimentals etc) in VR, but the bigger aircraft that tend to be flown for long periods on autopilot, in 2D. Also, for screenshots, you can crank up the graphics settings to max in 2D.
I am hoping that when the Vulcan adoption happens, the performance increase will allow VR use in the more detailed areas.
Cool!
Some avionics differencies from the ones I flew.
It’s been 14 years, but I remember it was a capable aircraft. Easy to operate.
A nice workplace.
Before you know it, those Fokkers will be everywhere.
I don’t have any of the other Cubs. I will say that, at least on first blush, it is fantastically fun to fly and the VR is fun. I don’t think it has quite as much extra stuff as perhaps some other GA planes…things like engine management (oil, damage, etc…) and other features. But they are early in development still. I think they are adding an analogue panel and some other things.
The infamous @Paulrix is at it again.
This is one of those planes I saw a lot during childhood and have a hard time resisting, but I will wait for a good sale!
Also I am a sucker for twin turboprops with high wings. I dont fly X-Plane all that much, but the only payware aircraft I have is the Do-228 (as flown by the Dutch Coast Guard).
But this is a real Dutch plane, we don’t have many of those. How are the other Dutchies holding out on this one?
@Sryan @TheAlmightySnark @schurem? And the ones I forgot
Good news on old school panel. I have to say that the G1000 isn’t my idea of a good match for an airplane like this. Having said that, I’m probably just getting old . Now, I’m off to chase some kids off my lawn!
Infamous? Me?
I don’t know. For me flying is a martial art. I aint getting shot at, nor shooting anything in a Do-228 so it holds little interest to me. (I don’t own any civilian flight sims)
However, some of the posts(stories, picture logs) you guys do on Xplane sure are tempting!
I simply love Fokkers, all my teachers and a lot of co workers have worked on, or at the place of production itself!
Schiphol is still littered with remnants of the age of Fokker!
The 727 is cool. The radar actually works as a poor mans TAWS in the 727. This image from the radar tilted down on that offset LOC into BIAR:
That 727 sure is a thing of beauty…
Another case of “I just couldn’t resist”…
The steam gauge panel has been released. Not bad, but it has the Avitab mounted font and center, which is a bit modern, but then it should be remembered that this isn’t a Piper Cub, but something altogether newer. Ground handling seems much better than most X-Plane tail-draggers. Lots of fun in VR too!
I think if you select “Experimental Flight Model” to ON you get some better handling too…except in spins and stuff. Just remember to toggle it back off for other aircraft…
