X-Plane releases thread

Just to confirm, the Air Hauler for X-Plane 11 mod works really well, albeit you have to track down performance tables for the aircraft that you are importing, just like you would with any custom aircraft import. What I am thinking about doing is dropping an Excel spread sheet here (or better in an AH thread) to see if you guys agree with the performance numbers.

So, just so this is straight in my mind… with this mod, we can play Air Hauler 1 on XP11 without having to have XP10 installed at all?

Yes, that’s right Paul. It’s a shell folder with an .exe that spoofs the original X-Plane .exe, and a dummy .acf file that AH looks for when importing aircraft. You also need UIPC for XP, and specs for the aircraft that you want to import. But that’s it. I’ll do a guide ASAP. Traveling this weekend.

Note that AH1 stock market data pulls only during open market hours for NYSE and NASDAQ. Have not tested the others. Fuel is still locked at $100/bbl. I wish someone could determine how that could be set to match actual prices.

That sounds great. I’ll pick up Air Hauler in the near future and give it a try. A guide would be much appreciated Dan. No rush though as I have family visiting right now from the UK, so I’ll be unable to do much simming for the next couple of weeks.

They got the stock market working in xp11? Nice. That was non functional in 10 I thought?

Well, I bought Air Hauler. I think I installed it correctly. I pointed it to the AH_XPLANE folder and also the xplane.exe in the same folder, as well as adding the latest version of XPUIPC into my XP11 plugins folder… I guess the next step is to import some of my aircraft from XP11 now…

Affirmative Paul. When you import one, point to the blank .acf file in the AH_XPLANE folder. You will get a an applet requesting Name, Manufacturer, MTOW, etc. This info is not editable once you’ve pulled it into the database. But the next form which requests performance is editable, so getting the numbers correct is not as critical. Once you’ve added one or more aircraft, the next time you launch AH, they will be available for purchase.

I only had time to fly one trip so far, and my install still does something a little strange in that I need to launch AH as an Administrator, or I get an error during flying a Job or moving the aircraft from one airport to another.

Thanks for the info Dan. I think I have it up and running properly now. Like you, I had to run AH as an administrator. I couldn’t fly any trip otherwise without getting a missing file error.

I’m setting up Rix Air Freight at Bella Coola, which should provide some scenic flying.

Nice Paul. Bella Coola should be a lot of fun. I’ve set up shop a little further south at KBVS. I’ll be sure to stop in your office to say hello when Chipwich Air Freight starts making runs to your neighborhood  Maybe we can borrow Angela’s Husky to run over to Machmell and visit @smokinhole.

I found that you can make the “run as administrator” process simpler by right-clicking the AH shortcut, choosing Properties → Compatibility → Run this program as an administrator. Another thing that I forgot to mention is to run go into options and set AH to run over a network. That will force manual load of cargo and fuel, so that you can start XP11 in the right departure airport and aircraft.

I went ahead and blew away my previous company, reinstalled AH, and started a new company with default settings. I would love to build the thing from the ground up like @BeachAV8R has done in AH2 , but RL (kids & work) are competing pretty hard with playtime at the moment. Anyway, I sold the King Air, deleted all of the XP9 aircraft, and imported a few of my favorites from my XP11 install, the Aztec, PC-12, Twin Otter, and JF Turbo Arrow.

I bought the Aztec and will fly this until I have enough funds and reputation for the Arrow and another flight crew. Then work towards a Twin Otter. How’s the rent at Bella Coola? Skagit’s not too bad at ~ $4500.

Bella Coola is cheap…$1800 and change.

This is going to eat into my DCS time in a big way… LOL.

One thing I did learn last night is that you shouldn’t go into replay mode to get screenshots until after finishing up the flight in AH. It fell over on me and the flight was wasted. I got some nice shots on my run down to Port Hardy (CYZT) in my trusty C172 though. I’ll post them up later today.

Great info! Thanks Dan!! I’ll set up my shortcut to do that, and turn on the network mode.

This is a good looking scenery by VirtualDesign3D (payware)…LEAL - Alicante (Spain) International. Not sure what the purpose of doing the INSIDE of the terminals is…but @smokinhole might want to fly his helicopter in through the doors or something…

we just need similar avatar as in P3D and then you can enjoy walking inside the terminals in VR

Here’s one for the rotorheads… VSkyLabs Guimbal Cabri G2…

  • Project under constant development: Development plan and evolution are including EVERY aspect of the project (3D modeling and textures, flight dynamics modeling, fmod sounds, interactivity, systems etc…).
  • Highly engineered, robust helicopter simulation which pushes X-Plane’s out-of-the-box features and flight dynamics model to its extent.
  • Highly detailed visualization of the Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter.
  • Engineered as a ‘Native X-Plane aircraft’ : Maximum X-Plane compatibility without the use of 3rd party plugins or external coding dependencies.
  • Day/Night VFR instrumentation.
  • Electronic Pilot Monitor (EPM) - Simplified yet authentic and effective EPM display.
  • FULL-VR mode feature, enables to operate and fly the G2 without physical hardware for the pedals.
  • Built in compatibility with the AviTab plugin for 3D and VR AviTab visualization and interaction.
  • Optional Experimental/LSA grade autopilot included.
  • Perfect for new helicopter pilots and for helicopter conversion for fixed wings aircraft pilots - due to its docile flying characteristics and simple yet effective design features.

Good to see new helicopters using all the wonderful XP VR features. The G2 is a WIP and I am not sure I am quite ready to jump on it right away. VSKYLABS has been working with BC helicopters for input, textures and art. On their website they have a link to some well-produced training videos that the school has produced. Like this one…

I might have to pick this one up. So far I have enjoyed flying every one of the VSkyLabs aircraft that I have purchased. Their flight modeling just feels “right”.

Can’t wait to hear what you think about it. I have a really stupid reason for holding off but I will just go ahead and admit it: I am afraid the sound is going to suck! The B412 is superb. But the interior sound is so awful that I pull the Oculus earpieces away when I fly.

I’ve corresponded with the developer a good bit in anticipation of doing an article. He is a pilot, engineer, and aviation enthusiast…so his creations come from a special place inside. He’s a super nice guy and seems to really enjoy bringing his ideas and projects to light…
