Everything is bigger in Texas. And Dallas really takes that phrase as a challenge.
I thought the same when I saw their football stadium.
It cost 1.4 BILLION dollars and over 100,000 people can fit in there. Enormous.
Carenado PA-46 Malibu Mirage, this aircraft is quickly growing on me. FL200 flying with economy cruise settings. The engine is a bit of a trickster to learn, it’s a piston but has a TIT indicator which indeed means Turbine Inlet Temperature. Not quite sure how this engine works so now I am reading up on how that works, but that’s the fun of learning in a simulator!
It’s a gorgous aircraft, that pod you see is a weather pod! It’s the sensible businessperson’s private aircraft!
Gorgeous airplane. One of the types I’ve never flown or been in. I’m guessing that X-Plane doesn’t model stuff like shock cooling (it would be neat if it did). I think A2A or AccuSim or somebody might have made some airplanes/mods that give that depth of modeling. It would really be cool since you’d have to be careful managing descents and treating your engine nice. As an A&P…you’ll do that anyway though…LOL…
Thing is with simulators, is that you get a brand new engine that hasn’t even had a go in a testcell. Modelling the quirks and performance differences between engines is probably quite an overhead that won’t be appreciated by most simmers. We appear to like our brand spankin new aircraft.
Haven’t seen anything shock cooling related.
Yeah…some aircraft (I think for FSX though) model stuff like oil consumption, look for hot starts and high ITT during operation. That is kinda cool. The original Aeroworx B200 did that (also did tire wear) (or tyre if you are one of those right side of the pond people…)
If you own fsx or P3d check out a2a simulations and especially accusim.
It models aircraft engine systems and wear and tear, and this carries over to your next flight, unless you overhaul the engines. I had the B377 stratocruiser (about 8years old now but received many updates like captain of the ship.).
It had oil consumption, which i had to top up during flight from onboard resevoir and maybe top up for next flight. If it was really cold outside, you needed to dilute the oil before engine start. Some complex engine management. Even after looking after the engines as best i could, you could see engine parameters changing between the engines due to wear. Some would run hotter than others, some started producing less thrust etc.
They are releasing an accusim connie soon as well.
I tell you what, if A2a crossed over to xplane i would be back into it like there was no tomorrow. This connie makes me want to buy p3d, as vanilla fsx no longer works on my machine (weird graphical stuff that i cannot fix)
But the realism comes with Accusim products. So if persistant wear and tear and not having a brand new indestructible aircraft everytime you fly is what you are after, then definitely have a look. A2A does Accusim for a host of aircraft from single engine up to the big b377 and soon the connie.
I have no idea why no one else makes planes like this. Most plane creators think a good looking model is the only thing that makes a good sim plane. Trust me, go accusim and you will think twice on other planes.
Alas I’ll have to wait for Accusim to move to X-plane.
I recorded a little video to show what neat features the Malibu Mirage has.
Note that whatever you do on the inside is also visible on the external model!
Reality expansion pack or whatever it’s called does this for xplane for a couple of carenado aircraft. Next in line is the b58 apparently.
ORBX for X-Plane perhaps coming next year? From the developer:
Project A – Massive. A huge investment in new tech, new tools, new apps and new staff. It will surprise many of you, and delight you all. It will focus on both Europe and North America. It will perform like nothing you have experience in your simming life. It will support VR. It will be a VFR flyer’s wet dream. It will be sold on OrbxDirect. Oh, and it will be 64-bit.
Project D – The evolutionary next step. Another big $ commitment, worldwide coverage, new tech, new experiences, a strong partner and an established record. Oh, and it will be 64-bit.
Project P – Our continued commitment to our strongest platform and it has a huge backing. More refinement, more performance, more destinations from Orbx than ever before. An old friend gets better, faster, stronger, bigger. Oh, and it will be 64-bit.
Project X – The surprise package. The dark horse. A big $ R&D commitment. Orbx quality where it’s needed the most so things finally get to truly shine. Oh, and it’s 64-bit.
Project O – Introduced in 2016 this will become your go-to for all things Orbx with more stability, more features, better performance, and continued development so it never gets stale.
An AVSIM user posited the following based on those statements…that do seem reasonable (except Project A…Aerofly seems too constrained…unless the plan is to make it global…)
Project A - Integration into a new flightsim. Maybe Aerofly?
Project D - Dovetail FS
Project P - P3D4 (64 bit!)
Project X - XP11
Project O - OrbxDirect updates
Their secret codenames aren’t very good.
It would be great to get ORBX into X-Plane, especially if you don’t have to buy it again.
This might be interesting!

All I know is if ORBX makes Alaska, PNG, or Australia for X-Plane…I might never resurface in FSX again…(well…we know that is a lie…)
Add DCS F/A-18, F-14, and F-4 to that and I can comfortably say the same.
I dont know what to say ![]()
Hmm, X-plane is love. X-plane is life.
What a tease! is that 10 or 11?!
I’ll bet with those reflections - I’m gonna guess 11…
