I want to say I saw a video once of Dennis Quaid piloting his own Citation into Sun Valley…
KTWF - Good find! $10,191 a month. I could hire Bubba to do stuff. And he has tractor.
So how do you make sure the trucking cargo to destination works? I flew my cargo from KMMV to KOLM. Unloaded Cargo at KOLM and it brought up the “truck to destination” pop-up. It was going to cost $69 and just 1nm away or so, so I clicked OK. But now I can’t seem to see anywhere where the status is, and all of my cargo still shows as being in my base in KMMV (even though I loaded it up there and unloaded it explicitly at KOLM). Hmmmm.
It might be like some things in Air Hauler that take a bit before they actually happen (like using the AI to ferry a plane or to built a base)… Maybe check back in a couple hours?
Yep. It’ll likely take about 20-30 to load the truck(s), time enroute, then 20-30 to unload, from the time you clicked ok.
Thanks Rhino and Beach! Yup, it finally went through after I ran an errand. I was worried that I had done something wrong, especially since I couldn’t find a way to find it in game. I’m good to go though :).
My next debate is whether to save up and get a Baron 58 for the increased speed (it’s what I use in FSE, boy I forgot how slow the Skyhawk was :P), to hire a pilot with his own C172, or save up for a Caravan. Or heck, perhaps even a Quest Kodiak. So many different options :P.
Only problem with the baron is the low cargo capacity relatively speaking. It’s cheap enough because it’s based on mtow, but you’re basically doing a speed upgrade.
I love the baron though.
I think I am going to try do more commodity trade runs, make some quick cash, and buy a bigger plane I want, rather than churning through 20 REP, which requires 60 jobs, then lease one. Have not done any such trade yet. But if I understand it correctly, the prices listed in AH2 are by pound. C172 can hold 600lb or so in short trips. There’s price differences of 20, 30, or even 50. That means I could make 50x600=30,000 in one trip. Did I get this right? If I average 15K per trip, it will take 40 trips to make 600K, plus what I can get from selling the C172, that could get me a new Kodiak. Of course this is simplified, disregarding fixed costs. But maybe I could switch to a bigger plane in the middle to expedite the process. Or hire an AI… Any holes in this?
You did get that right! I am starting not to like it. It’s just too ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve made a mint off this system and wouldn’t dare go mouthing off to Slopey that his economics suck. But there are cheats and then there are cheats. Making 60,000 to fly “fine china” 30nm is a cheat.
Definitely (which is why I’m debating whether the speed upgrade itself is worth it with how many jobs I’m going to be doing :P). Or, like others have mentioned, doing some commodity trading to rack up some money to just buy a more expensive aircraft. Even then though, the debate will become to go with the 208 Caravan or the Quest Kodiak :). I already own the Carenado 208 Caravan, but it’s tempting to drop the money to get the Quest Kodiak v2 (G1000) and the REP pack for it :P.
I’m on the way from KDEW (Deer Park) down to Pullman - 74 bumpy miles. Looks like the weather is holding up in Pullman so far though…
I need to play with my job settings a bit, I think - so far I haven’t had any dirt strip jobs, which I’m hoping to do with the tundra tire Super Cub…otherwise I might as well fly an Arrow or Turbo Arrow and get the extra speed.
I did notice that the Cub doesn’t appear to have an OAT gauge, which seems like an odd omission…I’ll have another look for it, but if correct, that’s not really ideal, as I kind of wanted to use these flights as opportunities to spin the e6b calculator a bit for practice.
I realised it also only has one VOR receiver, which to be fair is fine most of the time as I’m unlikely to do any intersection work in it. Very fun to fly, though! Put those flaps down all the way and you can descend like a rock doing 65 mph.
Sometimes they are above your left or right shoulder near the wing root maybe? I’m in exactly the opposite situation…my Husky has an OAT gauge, but no pitot heat that I can find! I will definitely need to keep an eye on the OAT while flying today since there is a high overcast.
Air Hauler 2 Does Play with Helicopters!
I need to flush this out a bit more before getting too excited. With that said I picked my favorite add-on, Quatam River, and added a few of its helipads as Custom Airports into Air Hauler, getting the lat/longs and altitudes as accurate as possible using Google Earth. I then set up a new career with one pad as my Base. The pad is a medical facility according to the scenery notes so I gave it the ICAO code MEDF. I then bought a CBi300 and went through the type rating process out of MEDF. Air Hauler recognized the takeoff and landing. Once typed, 5 cargo jobs were available from the pad. Using it was just for testing. I will now move the base to Quatam River airstrip. Fuel is available there because AH2 recognizes it as a real airport. I am pretty sure that once I start visiting pads that I’ve added to the database, the game will generate jobs to other Quatam pads and LZs. I’ll report back with the results and if it works, the lat/long/elev for each pad.
There is a trolley/tow pad at Pullman using the Aerosoft version of the airport. I thought of you… LOL…
Anyone who imported the bush variant for the 172… do you all your 172 aircraft show up with the name /a taildragger blah blah?
It renamed all mine, so now when I’m shopping for used aircraft, I can’t really tell what’s what… haha. The picture gives me an idea, but ya.
Yes it did. What I did was move all of my 172s out of my X-Plane directory temporarily except for the 172 Bush…that way when I imported and bought the Bush 172 it was the only possible selection…
Whoa. Does ASXP inject turbulence that doesn’t show in the x-plane dataref? Because my plane just got taken for a ride, and x-plane insisted there was no turbulence. Thank god for the autopilot. I had to turn it on because I am not that skilled!
edit: I actually paused the sim to check display the dataref because WOW out of nowhere the plane just started bucking. I was like… broken flaps? no they’re up… gear fall off?? that shouldn’t be do it… doors open? nope… haha. And then I just sort of popped out of the turbulence bubble and things were good. LOL. Scary AF though! and I’m carrying ice! Gonna be ice chips instead.
