Please keep the discussions to this thread though.
I did do a poll earlier here about DLC, unfortunately I have no clue who voted what but it’s at 12 voters with all the DLC and 2 with None. If the 2 with None are participating in races, please let me know. We’re going to run out of base tracks fairly quickly (there are only 6). I don’t want to leave anyone out if I can help it, but if I don’t hear anything I’m just going to assume that the people participating are all part of the “All DLC” group.
You can just pm me if you’d like, If needed I can make sure there is at least 1 of the 2 events a week just from base game. I don’t want to completely exclude anyone if I can help it.
Lol, seems there is an…uhhhmmmm significant gap between the “pros” (@chipwich and @weaponz248 currently) and the “noobs” (@Rhinosaurus and me currently)
Curious how those gaps will fill up, and where everyone else will go.
@Rhinosaurus you have me beat this time but I will return!
Stage 9 done and made up 9 seconds.
Stage 10 was going well then I punctured the front right into the 3rd sector and had to finish the stage like that. I’ve lost 33 seconds.
Are you guys racing the clock or the track? I find racing the track makes me faster than racing the clock.
The track. I just try and drive it as fast as possible, whilst trying to keep it on the island. I don’t have enough time to focus on anything apart from the co-driver and the next corner. I don’t know time until I’ve run over the marshall.
This. In fact I sometimes get “behind the car” and fail to process what the co-driver is saying. I have to slow down then so I don’t get off the track.
My goal is always to finish, even with a bad time. Time is second priority.
Ooofff…this was in section one of a four or five section stage. I had no idea how to change my tire so just drove the rest of the stage gingerly in 3rd gear. Which apparently also damaged my engine and radiator…
Since I’ve installed the Logitech software again, my wheel feels much better. I had a deadzone for some reason configured in game, which I’ve completely removed which has reduced the snapping back and forth seen in the previous video, so big thanks @chipwich.
Mostly the track, but I admit when the clock turns red I focus a little harder. One long stage I got 14 seconds down in the second section, but managed to close within 4 in the last. That’s very satisfying, but this rally there were a few stages that no mater how I drove, I kept losing a bunch of time. Then I relax and drive the rally to finish, hoping those quicker will make a mistake.
I saw an interview with Richard Burns the year that he won his championship. He, McRae, and Carlos Sainz were very close in points at the last rally, Great Britain. Whomever won the rally would take the championship. He said something like, “when you are on the very limit and the other guy is quicker every stage, you know that he is probably driving over his limit.” He was referring to the leader at the time, Colin McRae. Sure enough, Colin went off and Burns won the rally and the championship. That’s what made Colin a fan favorite of course, that he only knew one speed. Flat out.
Really nice stage Keets You hit the 3 right, tightens, 3 left section much quicker than I. I think that you might have to drive these cars nearer their limit than the group B cars.
Impressive driving there Keets and in a different world to my skills, although I’m glad to see you also use the “scatter the marshalls and make them crap themselves” method that I employ at the finish
Oh dear… stage 11, chasing the lead and needing to go large, I overcooked a 3 left tightening and hit a tree, ruptured the radiator and barely limped over the line. I didn’t realise I’d damaged the engine and started Stage 12 with minimal repairs…
Lets just say I had time to read the pace notes myself… I couldn’t get about 50 miles an hour.
Marbles in the engine sir?
Really great fun participating and enjoyable reading/seeing how everyone gets on.
You know what is real exciting? When you come downstairs in the morning, fire up the computer and hop into a Rally stage. A few minutes into it…screaming along through the forest with tense shoulders and darting eyes…the program drops to desktop because RealityXP wants to push an update.
