My main complaint about this game is the lack of decent manuals. These days the cop-out is always to go and watch videos (see the Voice Attack add-on pack - frustrates the hell out of me). Things have changed a huge amount since we played the original beta, but I never found any decent, comprehensive manuals about how to do things.
I often read manuals either when I go to bed in the evening (hopefully) or at the doctor’s surgery, hospital ect, where I often have to wait up to an hour for appointments. I can’t watch YouYube videos in those places. I also have nothing I can refer to as I’m in game. Trying to refer to a video is not good.
When I play, I just do whatever I feel like doing at the time. I don’t give a hoot about rep - because there seem to be so many factions etc, I don’t really like the way the game developed in that direction. When they changed it and introduced
all this RPG stuff, I just went out and did my own trading, then tried mining until they changed that completely and, again, didn’t provide us with a proper manual on exactly how it’s done. Smuggling was fun, in the Diamondback Explorer - excellent ship for it.
Then I joined a small group and did some bounty hunting - in fact, whenever I’ve played in groups (like that big PvE one, Mobius), it’s been bounty hunting - and now they changed the system to share the rewards, it’s improved things.
I just do my own thing. I like planetary landings, and would like to do more along those lines (i.e. in my buggy) but again, I don’t have time to watch all the videos and haven’t found any actual manuals to tell you what to do. I already spend far too much time in forums (ahem!..) in all the games and sims I have.
The best time I had was in a system, far far away (no Bath Vapour, though) where I recced all the local systems, found the best runs and built my wealth there, until they changed it and suddenly it wasn’t worth hanging around any more. That’s when I restarted.
I s’pose this is a bit of a complaint, but I do like flying in Elite - I don’t do nearly enough of it.
Sorry for spelling - I think faster than I can type!
