To call it a clone is reductive, Project Wingman is awesome! I think it’s better than most ACs, even!

In my year and a half absence…XP12 came out. Quick question…do most XP11 planes still work with it? I’m sure that isn’t an easy question to answer. I just have such a massive fleet of XP11 aircraft I’d be tempted to stick with it unless they can be copy pasted and work fairly well with XP12…

@NEVO will be able to give you a much better answer, but my understanding is that a lot of XP11 aircraft, including payware, may not work all that well in XP12.
I have probably invested in less planes than you but I have, but continue to hold off buying XP12 (or MSFS) for that reason… Besides XP11, even if it isn’t as pretty, gives me my GA, Commercial and flying exotic aircraft to exotic locations fix.

here some small insight into the XP11 planes in XP12.
so long story short, its not that easy to make the XP11 birds work correctly in XP12. usually they work, but with lots of shortcomings.

Hmmmmm… I never purchased any planes or scenery for XP, though I did download lottsa freebies back in the day and even had a long running XP freebies thread on another site. Somehow I never felt the need!
there is great freeware base on XP platform. thats for sure.
sometimes the freeware stuff is great, but sometimes I need that particular payware bird which isnt available freeware or isnt modeled for free to my satisfaction 
other thing is that freeware stuff is lots of times released and abandoned. I like when the devs stick around and provide updates from time to time.
but saw similar effort also from freeware devs.
but its great for shoe shopping without cash. you download and have fun with the new shiny freeware bird. once you have flown it to your satisfaction there is already new shiny freeware bird available for exploration

By the way… If you look, you’ll find that nearly all of the steam sales posted in the last month or so are apparently back in effect until the 4th of January, So now may be the time, if you were interested but missed out.

Which Edition would you advice?
'Pends on if you are ineterested in what is offered with the higher rated versions.
I was content with the standard version because the aircraft in the more expensive versions didn’t really interest me - and especially not as “OEM” models.

I would say the premium has a lot more default airports etc, but that only matters if you’re not intending to almost immediately replace tons of stuff with third party addons…
If you do have a miles long list of stuff you intend to buy, then default is probably just as good a place to start as any…
I’m the type who hates the thought of going cheap(er) and then finding out later I missed out on some nice goodies, so I just shrugged and went with premium.

If Asobo was like the old Microsoft, those OEM models would have remained static forever, but in actuality those planes have gotten so many updates from sources like Flybywire and Asobo themselves that they at this point more closely resemble high-end payware rather than any previous generations idea of default.
In fact there’s quite a lot of lower than “default” quality payware out there nowadays!

oh please, please do not use that so dumb expression “in actuality” - I hate it with a passion! 
“In fact” would be the proper phrase. The other one is borne out of illiterate western cowpokes. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard some US expert on something say it on TV - but I did immediately switch the channel!

PS - btw I’m someone who makes a helluva lot of throw away comments.
