I got the Philips Screeneo U4 short throw projector for our guestroom. It’s a small one, just for 1080 res. It will do 80", but I only tried it at about 50".
I can totally see the magic in going ultra large with a 4K projector though!
Wow, I ordered it on Tuesday afternoon and it’s already here! I think less than two days is incredible for such a heavy parcel. I ordered it from a retailer called Staples (office supply) which I thought might be slower than Amazon! Two guys had to deliver it and I needed a dolly to move it around.
Four day weekend coming up too!
Staples! Wow I was surprised and had to have a look. Sure enough. Must resist

I know right?! I ordered it Tuesday … Wednesday I get an email from Staples saying it shipped, expected delivery date is January 5th! Got it today (Thursday) at 2:00pm!!! ![]()
Well that wasn’t too difficult! …
Really impressed with the build quality as I’m 6’3", 250 lbs and I’m going to punish this thing LOL! It fits me like a glove but I have to shift the center pole forward to easily get into the thing which I find kinda cool since it has a quick release latch and it’s kinda like removing the steering wheel to get into a race car. ![]()
Now I have to completely dismantle my current office and reconfigure around the sim pit.
How low can you mount the stick? For a tall extended stick, that mounting looks quite a bit too high.
All those mounts are currently at their lowest point as I have to tune it up but I would just screw my TM to that center pole between the legs. You are correct though and I’ve heard complaints to that effect for this unit. You’d have to do a little metal fabrication and welding to get it to your liking I think.
That is as low as goes (if you mount the cross beam according to the instructions), but it is deceptive - It is about perfect for a warthog stick and no extension.
Without the centre pole fitted It should be possible to move the crossbeam down ‘a notch’ which would move it down by about 10cm and forward by the same amount. That would allow a small (10cm) extension, but you would want a ‘goose neck’ to compensate for the forward placement.
I’m off to see what is available online… Otherwise I will be asking my brother to fire up his 3D printer.
Edit: Everything that I could find was 3D printed and the seller was asking $30-$50. Just sent this link to my bro:
Those 3D printed extensions work really well, they’re plenty strong enough (no flex) and the threads are good to go. Just in case anyone’s on the fence about giving them a try.
If I’d printed one before I bought the Virpil extension, I’d not have spent the $120 on it.
Sweet, thanks for the feedback. My brother is a serious geek (built his 3D printer from scratch, including software) and will be able to make it out of PLA+ or ABS… I will leave that up to him.
He got into 3D printing so he could make stuff for his car, brackets, adaptors, etc because he is also a serious Gear head and has a heavily modded ‘sleeper’ Toyota 86. It looks stock except for the wheels but - coil overs, Brembo calipers and bigger rotors, strut brace, Harrop supercharger (water cooled intercooler so you don’t have a big air-to-air giving the game away), etc. He has surprised more than one muscle car owner.
Only thing to be aware of is PLA doesn’t like heat. I printed my first Authentikit Spitfire stick and then stupidly left it in my truck for an afternoon and completely destroyed it. Just an FYI.
And right before christmas too…! It’s not like they don’t have any other packages to deliver.
Well, I’ll be gosh darned.
I’d never considered looking for flightsim gear at Staples. We have them here too, although they just changed their name to Lyreco…?
Happy flightsimming christmas, @Elby!
Pictures please.
I concur, I purchased a cheapy from AliExpress & haven’t looked back

(i got the longest one with the bend in it)
sounds ruder than it is
Reconfiguring my computer room was four times as hard as putting the sim pit together LOL! …
A mixture of flight sim and driving gear there to show versatility.
Now that I’m sitting further back from my 55" panel, I’m thinking about getting a 75" panel. ![]()
Very cool.
Lookin’ good Elby!
Time to start assembly of the Christmas gift. Then configure it, and hopefully have time to FLY something with it! ![]()
Nice mang. The hydraulic damper is a game changer. Be sure to download the latest software 2.17 downloads - Milan Flight Gear
